The objective of this study was to assess the impact of zebra crossings on motorist behavior at pedestrian crossings in Uganda. Zebra crossings play a vital role in ensuring pedestrian safety by providing designated points for crossing. However, there is a pressing concern regarding the effectiveness of zebra crossings in influencing motorist behavior, particularly in terms of yielding to pedestrians. This thesis aims to investigate the level of motorist compliance at zebra crossings. Through the implementation of a comprehensive observation methodology, this research revealed that motorists are less inclined to halt or yield to pedestrians who are attempting to crossroads at designated cross points, thereby limiting the overall effectiveness of zebra crossings in promoting pedestrian safetyen_US
