Abstract
This research study was to present an overview of the impact of technological advancements on graphic designing and visual communication in selected areas around Nasser, Kampala. It seek to provide valuable insights into how technology was influencing graphic designing, the challenges faced by designers while using advanced tools and their possible solutions and the opportunities that emerged from these changes. More so, informed designers, about the evolving landscape of graphic design in the context of advancing technology.
Furthermore, the study aimed at exploring trends in technology’s influence on graphic design, assess the level of literacy in advanced design software, and examine the role of knowledge about technological trends in graphic design. Employing both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, the researcher utilized questionnaires, observations, and interviews for data collection during this case study.
The findings reveal that a significant portion of graphic designers in these centres lack literacy in the latest design software and gadgets and have limited access to the advanced tools. However, those utilizing advanced tools digitally demonstrate superior artistic output compared to those relying on traditional methods and outdated software. This study contributes valuable insights into the evolving landscape of graphic design in the context of technological advancements and highlights the differences in adoption and skilfulness within the industry.
