dc.description.abstractThe main objective of this study was to determine the Attitude of undergraduate students at School of Statistics and Planning, Makerere University towards guidance and counselling and how different factors such as gender of student, experience of student with guidance and counselling and year of study influences his/her attitude towards guidance and counselling. This study utilized a descriptive cross-sectional study using a chi-square test to determine the nature of the association between attitude of undergraduate students at School of Statistics and Planning, Makerere University towards guidance and counselling and the different factors. The study revealed that respondents’ gender and experience with guidance and counselling were found to be significantly related to attitude towards guidance and counselling at p-value of 0.014 and 0.033 respectively Instead, Year of the study was found to be insignificant at p-value 0.604 greater than the critical value (0.05). The study findings showed that the attitude of undergraduate students towards guidance and counselling was positive and female students had a more positive attitude towards guidance and counselling as compared to the male students. Therefore, the study, therefore, recommends that efforts should be made to increase awareness of guidance and counselling and male students encouraged through talks to go for guidance and counseling.
