Questionnaires were used, direct observation also helped to gather some visible information relevant to the study and SPSS software and micro soft excel were used to analyze the data collected. The findings from this study revealed that; the households majorly obtained timber and fuel wood as the major source of household income through the sale of the forest products and people being employed to work in the plantations and then invest it majorly in paying school fees, starting up small businesses and building rental houses. It was concluded that forests are playing a big role in contributing to household income of the people in Ikumba Sub County after the sale of the forest resources. However its recommended that there is a need for government to sensitize the people of Ikumba sub county on how to invest the income gotten from forest resources as a way to increase their household income as well as sustainably use and manage the forest resources. This will help both the present and the future generations to use the same resources to meet their needs equally and there is need for the government to improve the facilities in the area like schools, hospitals, and market centers as these have remained to be serious problems in the area which have gradually put pressure on their household income
