Marketing Plan for Kitante Primary School Library

The study was aimed at developing a marketing plan for Kitante Primary School Library, The objectives of the study were; to find out what services are provided by Kitante Primary School Library, to establish how marketing is carried out by Kitante Primary School Library, to identify the challenges faced in marketing of Kitante Primary School Library, to develop a marketing plan for marketing of library services at Kitante Primary School Library. The study adopted a mixed research where primary data was collected using questionnaires, interview and observation methods. The questionnaires, interview guides, and the observation guides were used in data collection necessary in developing a marketing plan for Kitante Primary School Library. The findings revealed that there is a variety of information services offered by KPS library such as current awareness services, book loans, exhibition and displays, reading space among others. The library also manages a number of information materials that are used by users which include; text books and reference books, holy books, periodicals like magazines and newspapers, reports, charts and many others. The research finding also shows that these information services and products are not effectively utilized with reasons of not knowing these services. The research revealed that there different challenges faced with the library to effectively market its services to users and these were; lack of equipments such as computers, inadequate funds, few information materials, small reading space, and so on. This calls for a need for a marketing plan for Kitante primary School. Some of the recommendations were; Use of appropriate marketing approach, involvement of users in marketing of library services, promotion of current awareness services, offering of assistance services, proper feedback mechanism, purchase of a library sign post, improving the quality of services, training and educating the library users, organizing events, purchasing computers and the implementation of these will promote marketing of library products and services at KPS Library.
