dc.description.abstractThe aim of the project was to develop a Theatre Information Dissemination Guide for National Theatre and Cultural Centre. The objectives of the study were to; identify the types of information generated, determine how information is disseminated, examine the challenges in dissemination of information and develop a guideline for improving information dissemination at the National Theatre and Cultural Centre. The study employed a case study research design while adopting a qualitative research approach in data collection. Purposive sampling method was used to select the 6 respondents who participated in the study. Interview, observation and document analysis methods were used to collect data from the respondents. The study found out that the different types of information generated at the National Theatre and Cultural Centre were; information on child abuse, traditional and cultural information, educative information, family planning information and AIDS/HIV prevention information. The different information resources were; authors of plays, music producers, music composers, dance troupes, dramatics, comedians, poetry writers, photographers, artists. Information is disseminated through; plays, music, dances, drama, comedy, poetry and photographs using telephones, notice boards, email, news clipping service, bulletins, website and the fliers. The challenges in dissemination of information were; inadequate funds, inadequate staff, inadequate information resources, inadequate equipments for information resources, low connectivity to the internet, manual system used, lack of updates. The study suggested developing a information dissemination policy, purchase of more computers, soliciting for more funds recruitment of more staff, purchase of more equipments, increasing on the internet subscribed and training of more information resources to improve information dissemination at NTCC. The study concluded that there was a need for a guide on the dissemination of information at NTCC. The study recommended increasing the national theatre budget, recruitment of more staff, digitalization of all the information materials, creating awareness among the general public and sensitisation of staff.en_US
