dc.description.abstractMarketing plan is a social and managerial process designed to meet the needs and requirements of customers through the process of creating and exchanging products and valves.It is the art and science of identifying, creating and delivering valve to meet the needs of a target market, making a profit. The aim of the library marketing plan is to increase the visibility of the library and its valves to the library users at lira university library, increase awareness of the information materials available in the library, to provide a strategy covering all aspects of marketing at lira university library, the objectives that guided the study were to; identify the library services offered at lira university library, to establish the current methods of marketing library services at lira university library, challenges faced in developing a marketing plan at lira university library, to develop a marketing plan of lira university library. A case study research was used while adopting both qualitative and quantitative research approaches. The data collection methods included: interviews, questionnaires, and observation. Sample size was forty four (44) and this included (9) library staff and thirty five (35) library users (students) from which data was collected. Major findings were: lira university library uses mostly traditional means of marketing libraries services such as notice boards, broachers, to disseminate information materials to its users which seem very difficult to reach a wide variety of users. The finds further revealed that the current means of marketing at lira university library are limited hoping that the proposed marketing plan would provide a room for social media communication channels like face book, twitter ,websites ,Google plus among others to supplement the current communication channels. The study concluded that there was a need to develop a marketing plan for lira university library. the study recommended among others that training and acquiring new marketing skills, improving marketing services, internet provision,, designing a marketing plan, integrated library automation system, , following up funds to be put in the right activities and updating information materials.en_US
