dc.description.abstract | Storage and disposal are a crucial element in the process of managing information and record in the registry. The aim of storage and disposal are to prolong the life span of information records. Yet several factors are responsible for the quick deterioration and decay of information resources in registry. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the registries to see that their information record is stored for the maximal use of its workers and staffs.
The study was carried out in the World Vision Uganda. The World Vision Uganda registry is the center for information materials and it serves as an important in record keeping. It provides available and affordable print and non-print materials to meet the interests of the staff and students.
The World Vision Uganda is selected because the registry is currently facing storage and disposal resource of records. This is why the researcher is addressing this gap by proposing to develop a preservation policy for International University of East Africa Library information resources.
The targeted population was 60 and included staffs and workers around. The researcher used a sample size of 60 respondents, including 10 registry workers 50 other works who access the registry. The researcher used three methods in collecting data which included questionnaires guide, interview guide and observation.
Simple random sampling was used on registry users and record staffs and gave an equal chance for all elements of the study population to appear into the sample. The researcher also adopted a purposeful sampling strategy.
The study concluded that a storage and policy should be formulated, put in place and followed if proper storage and disposal of records is to be achieved at the WVU | en_US |
