dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the study was to assess the risk factors associated with paper records keeping at CUFH-N; the objectives were; 1) to find out the factors affecting paper records keeping at China Uganda Friendship Hospital, Naguru, 2) to find out the effects of these factors on paper records keeping at CUFH-N, and 3) to propose improvements in the keeping of paper records at CUFH-N. The study findings showed that; factors affect paper record keeping at a greater extent. The factors affecting paper records included; Limited funds, pests, lack of trained staff, light damage, Explosions and fire. Paper record keeping infrastructure were available like shelves and storage cabinets. The effects of the factors were; Valuable office space used to store paperwork, misplacing, loss and burring of records erosionof communication between coworkersand raising of stress levels of employees, loss of data, hospital running into trouble with filing taxes and managing budgets, Loss of productivity, efficiency and money. Finally the study concluded that the improvement needed are; in-service training, use a perfect data management system, Storage of records offsite, procurement of infrastructures such as shelves, Security measures be put in place to avoid unauthorized personnel from accessing records, disaster response plan and advocacy and communication. The study concludes that paper record keeping at the hospital needs an overhaul improvement. The study further recommended that; training sessions, distribution paper record keeping equipment, digitizing paper records and increasing budget to support the growing needs of paper records should be done in the hospital.en_US
