dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the project was to develop an Online Public Access Catalogue System for Kalinabiri Secondary School Library in order to ease searching and retrieval of Information resources by users of the library and the objectives where, to examine the current catalogue system used for searching and retrieval of information Resources at Kalinabiri Senior Secondary School Library, to analyze the current trends regarding catalogue at Kalinabiri Senior Secondary School Library, to determine the requirements necessary for designing and developing an online public access catalogue for kalinabiri senior secondary school library and to design develop an Online Public Access Catalogue for Kalinabiri Senior Secondary School Library. Unstructured interviews, Focused group discussions and observation were the methods of data collection. The study adopted a qualitative approach with case study design. Data was collected from a sample of 197 respondents were used consisting of librarians, teachers and students. The study found out that Kalinabiri Secondary School uses a book catalogue system for searching and retrieval of resources, an accession registry and a record book were used to register in the new books brought in the library as well as register details of users which was done manually, Cloud computing was the most known current trend in the field of information management and an OPAC was the desired system o effectively manage the search and retrieval of library materials at the school. The study concluded that the implementation of an OPAC would help ease the searching and retrieval of information materials from the library. The study recommended the school should adapt to the new OPAC to ease searching of books.en_US
