This study aims at establishing the contributions of cultural tourism on the host community‟s livelihood. The study is guided by the following objectives; to identify the cultural tourism attractions in Rwahi Town Council, to assess the economic contributions of cultural tourism on the host community„s livelihood and to assess the social contributions of cultural tourism on the host community„s livelihood. The study is carried out using a case study design where both quantitative and qualitative approaches are used. The data were collected using questionnaires and simple random and purposive sampling was also used. A sample size of 50 respondents was also used in the study. Results from this study reveal that respondents 45 (90%) agree that there are various cultural tourism attractions in Rwahi Town Council such as a historical museum, archaeological site, performing arts/festivals, religious events, and sports events. Results from this study also revealed that the majority of the respondents and thus 29 (58%) ranked the archaeological site as the common cultural tourism attraction. Results from this study further revealed that respondents generally agree that cultural tourism is providing a market to locally produced economic goods as well as increasing the host community‟s awareness of the need to protect cultural resources. This study however recommends that the ministry of tourism, wildlife and Antiquities should help communities on the protection of cultural sites and destinations as away of promoting cultural tourism in their community. This also helps in pooling the necessary financial and material resources to the community, the Destination managers should educate the local people on the contributions of cultural tourism on their local economy and the overall development of the area. This will motivate them to increase their desire to conserve, protect and promote the cultural tourism attractions. And last but not least, the Tour operators should incorporate cultural tourism destinations on their websites and social media platforms as a way of making them known to tourists.en_US
