| dc.description.abstract | The study focused on assessing the framework for online classification and indexing of legal records in Airtel Uganda, it also adopted three specific objectives, that is; to identify the existing legal records in Airtel Uganda, to examine the types and methods of online classification in Airtel Uganda and to examine the challenges in online classification and indexing of legal records in Airtel Uganda and to establish guidelines for a better online classification and indexing of records in Airtel Uganda.
The methods used to collect data was both qualitative and quantitative in nature and they included; Questionnaires, interviews, observation method and documentary analysis. Data was presented in tabulations, graphs and essay form.
The study revealed that there are three main types of data classification that are considered industry standards in Airtel Uganda and that is: Content-based classification and User-based classification. Legal records Court Records include divorce, car accidents, consumer rights claims and bankruptcy records Property Rights among others. The organization uses The Library of Congress Classification (LCC. Some of the challenges faced include Inadequate funding aids; lack of recognition by national governments. Complexity of the online classification and indexing language, Limitations in terms of knowledge, among others. The study concluded that Funding is central to the standardization of library. Resource sharing is made possible in an ICT era is made possible through uploading institutional catalogues to the internet, The researcher also concluded that Airtel Uganda also starts regular training of their staff and also hiring of more qualified and experienced workers. | en_US |
