The study was a descriptive survey since the information was gathered by the use of questionnaires, interviews and secondary data. It was carried out in 6 villages that included Bagaya, kimbugu, Bboza, Sseta, Lukulu, and Bumooza all found in Mpigi district. The overall objective was to assess the contribution of forest restoration to biodiversity and the livelihoods around Navugulu Central Forest Reserve. The other objectives were to assess the social benefits of restoration and to assess the ecological benefits of restoration to the biodiversity conservation. Data were collected using questionnaires and guided interviews from individual local people. It was then analyzed in SPSS version 23 to generate tables and graphs to describe the social and ecological benefits of forest restoration programs. The results showed that neighboring communities benefited socially from restored forest through firewood collection, fodder for domestic animals, Employment and local medicine collection among others. The results also showed that the respondents benefited ecologically through the introduction of new plants and animals in the area, changes in water quality, improved soil fertility, changes in weather conditions and an increase in agricultural output. Most the respondents indicated that they supported the restoration programs and recommended restoration programs should be emphasized through the plantation of more trees, employment of more supervisors and proper demarcation of forest boundaries to protect the forest from encroachment.
