Kampala is center of visual arts in Uganda, and yet the appreciation from the public (biggest percentage) towards the arts is still staggering. This has forced most artists to turn to neighboring Kenya and the western- European countries since they offer more exposure, opportunities and the welcome their country (Uganda) can’t offer. Structured questions were administered to visual artists mostly lecturers at Margaret Trowell school of industrial design and fine Arts because of their longer, professional experience in the art industry in Kampala. Descriptive analysis was used for data presentation. The study subsequently identified if the low appreciation by the public can be refocused and ways how it can be refocused. In chapter one, which is mostly the introduction to the research, a more detailed interpretation is given to the existence of the low public appreciation towards visual arts in Kampala in both the introduction and background. The chapter further entails the purpose, objective, and the research questions that guided the study. In chapter two, information is compiled from different published sources.
