dc.description.abstractThis research study assessed the effect of home school on the physical activity levels of children of springs of hope home education academy limited. It based on three objectives, that’s to say to establish the frequency, intensity and type of physical activities done by homeschooled children, to establish the motivations and barriers to physical activity in homeschooled children, to establish strategies to increase physical activity levels amongst home school children of springs of hope home education academy limited. The research involved parents of springs of hope home education academy limited. Data was analyzed using content analysis. This involved formation of themes and sub themes that were based on the study’s objectives Findings were presented in percentages. The study found out that 90% of the children quite often were active during physical education sessions and only 5% never did physical education and that most of the physical activities in home schooled children lasted for 30 minutes representing 45%, and the highest activity went up to 60minutes representing 5%. The least activity lasted for only 10minutes representing 10% on the overall time taken. It also revealed that the biggest number of children 40% was motivated into physical activities simply because their parents played with them, 30% were motivated by the fact that they like sports and 15% were respectively motivated by the need to learn new skills and because of having a playground. The findings also revealed that, support with sports equipment would increase participation most and it accounted for 45%, registering of sports academy accounted for 40% and supporting, and encouraging children in sports accounted for 15% as a measure that would increase children participation in physical activities Among the recommendations that were suggested are; Parents should come up with guidelines in order to assess the physical fitness of children. The ministry of education and sport should come up with a physical activity curriculum to be followed by home school communities in enhancing sports talents of children. Parents should support children with equipment for sports which help in enhancing talent motivation among young children. Home school communities should come up with competitions amongst children in order to boost children’s participation in sports.en_US
