In hotel industry, the workforce is a source of competitive advantage (Kramer and Shain, 2004). An occupation is a person’s work as a means of earning a living. Safety is Relative freedom from danger, risk, or threat of harm, and Occupational injury is any wound or damage to the body resulting from an event in the work environment whether caused deliberately or by accident. Health is the state of being free from illness or injury. (American labor statistics, 2012). Occupational health entails the promotion and maintenance of the highest degree of physical and mental health and social well-being of workers in all occupations (Taderera, 2012). Occupational Safety and Health has recently become a much higher priority in light of the growing evidence of great loss and suffering caused by occupational diseases and ill-health across many different employment sectors, and is of concern to managers at least partly because of increasing number of deaths and accidents occurring at work.as per the international labor organization 2003, it recoded 1613300 equating to 82% new cases in Uganda’s service industry alone and 17979 occupational accidents worldwide ( ILO, 2003). . To date OHS has been confined to the periphery of Human Resource Management (HRM), where its role, influence and importance have been overlooked (Cassio, 2004).en_US
