dc.description.abstractThe researcher presents the introductory part of the study, the back ground, research problem, and purpose of the study, objectives, and research questions, significance of the study and the scope of the study. The researcher also presents some of the related literature in relation to the study objectives, quotations were made basing on the study of research. The sturdy was made to analyze the students understanding of Re- design and signage at the school of music dance and drama at Makerere University Kampala Uganda. Thesis was based on the following objectives in relation to the study topic;  To find out why the school of music dance and drama still lag behind in terms of design compared to other schools in Makerere University.  To explore on how students at MDD understand signage and how relevant it is to them and the school at large.  To find out the importance of signage to the students of Music Dance and Drama and other students at Makerere University. The following were the research questions that were used by the researcher to gather relevant information;  Why does the school of music dance and drama lag behind in terms of design and signage?  What are the student’s perceptions on the signage of the school?  What are some of the importance of signage in the school of MDD.  What are some of the strategies used to make sure the public understand those signage? The researcher used qualitative and quantitative data collection methods, which included observations, capturing of photos from the field, interviewing of different students that included first years, second and third years, and some administrators at the school of music dance and drama, Makerere University. The researcher found out that at least 90% of the students interviewed (10 students) and the administrators (2) knew the used and the importance of signage and redesign and the school of music dance and drama of Makerere University only that little would be done since the school was set in the originally home stead buildings. though there are plans of shifting the school to another location within Makerere university. In conclusion, since the school is about to shift to another place, the researcher believes that better signage materials will be applied and the right designs will be implemented at the new location of the school to much the standards of other schools in Makerere University.en_US
