dc.description.abstractSweet Potato growing is an important activity in improving socio-economiclivelihoods in NakigoSub-County, Iganga district. Despite the sweet potatoes has greater importance, the impact of production risks on the productivity of sweet potatoes and its influence on the income received by sweet potato farmers in Nakigosub-county in Iganga district have been assed. However, there is little information on sweet potato growing. The study specifically determined the socio demographic characteristics of sweet potato farmersdetermine the major production risks affecting sweet potato production and productivity and determine the factors that influence the effects of risks on income received by potato farmers in Nakigo Sub-county in Iganga district. The study employed a descriptivecross -section survey and a purposive sampling technique was used to select a sample of 50 households which were specifically potato growers. Primary data were collected using a household questionnaire survey. The data from the questionnaire were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). Descriptive statistics namely frequencies, percentage and mean were computed. A multiple linear regression was used to determine theimpact of production risks on the productivity of sweet potato farmers in Nakigo sub-county Iganga-district. The study findings found that, Womendominate the activity of sweet potato production. The study reviewed the production Risks facing the sweet potato farmers in Nakigo sub-county. Thus, there is need to address the issue of production risks if the productivity and income of the sweet potatofarmers is to increase in the area and Uganda at large.en_US
