Appraising structural textile design as a life skill in the employment sector in Uganda: a case of students living in and outside school.

Abstract

The study was meant to analyze the appraising structural textile design as a life skill in the employment sector in Uganda: a case of students living in and outside school. More so, the thesis was based on the following objectives on relation to the study topic. i. To establish important methods and ways of creative thinking while in lecture rooms and outside among students. ii. To explore more variable talent through testing students on their creativity specifically in textile design. The research presents life skills that students can embark on to sustain themselves favourably in competitive local and global market. This research enlightes students to adopt and master some techniques, hence specify some of the affordable machines and looms to use for the start this acquiring experience in the field that creates jobs to society. The available literature about textile design and the visualization concepts were analyzed and depended on in order for the study .Respondent's contributions from interviews, discussions and reports of data collected from observed textile designers experts' creations were highly called for and examined. The research involves the qualitative analysis that was done included published case histories and interviews that enabled a researcher to compile the final report. The researcher analyzed the different textile fabrics produced and the materials used plus the different techniques used to produce them using specified looms that students can use to acquire life skills to earn a living. The research contains all information about textile designers work experiences, that can be gained by students practically hence they are equipped with skill and knowledge from the workplace and studio that enables them produce works hence creating employment to them.
