A questionnaire was the main data collection instrument that was employed because of the advantages they have for the study including, time savings, upholding of confidentiality and for the study including, time savings, upholding of confidentiality and for being the best source of primary data. Both open and close ended questions were developed in line with the objectives and literature review on variables. This was so in order to allow the expression of different people's views and opinions and to ensure wide coverage of opinions from the respondents. The study indicated that the causes of low quality printmaking art works in the department of art and design is actually still low compared to other products that are produced by some of other departments as well as those on the market and the major reason given was that students majorly learn from description than observation. They would emulate any quality work if at all they had. Thus, the lack of inspirational work. Secondary, the materials that these students use are not of good quality that is competitive enough. This is further more worsened by the inability of the students to access the expensive materials for printmaking that would give them good quality products, which is competitive enough in the market. In essence, therefore, the university can help by providing good quality materials and tools which will help them produce better/good quality printmaking art works. They should also be exposed to tours in art galleries and art markets in order to improve their skills.en_US
