The purpose of this study was to identify the extent to which the fashion industry in Uganda utilized the local materials. It specifically investigated the reasons why the fashion industry in Uganda resorted to using imported materials to create their designs other than utilizing the local materials. I focused on the fashion designers in Uganda for example Stella Atal, SolomeKatongole, Samson Ssenkaaba, Maciellah, Brenda Nambi, and included some of the craft makers at art craft Uganda along Buganda road since these also contribute to the fashion industry in Uganda. There were a lot of interactions between the researcher and the Ugandan fashion designers and the researcher recorded the different views on the research topic from them during the interactionsen_US
