This study sought to assess the adoption of improved cook stoves in Katiiti village, Mpigi district. The study was guided by the following research objectives: To determine the adoption level of improved cook stoves (ICS) among the households; to identify the factors that influence the adoption of ICS and to identify strategies that can be used to improve levels of ICS adoption in Katiiti village. The study utilised random sampling design to obtain the relevant data. The sample selected for this study consisted of 35 residents of Katiiti village. Primary data was mainly obtained through field interviews that were carried out using questionnaires. Secondary data was obtained from both the published and unpublished sources. Data was analysed using linear regression and cross tabulations. It was found that only 28.6%of the households owned ICS. The main factors affecting adoption of ICS were found to be age, level of education, competing priorities and number of people in the households. It was suggested that awareness campaigns and other ICS trainings should be conducted in the village to increase the adoption of ICS. All programs should be tailor made to specific age groups, gender and level of education.en_US
