dc.description.abstractThe study aimed at investigating whether designing and implementing an online student registration portal at LDC may help to speed up the registration process (capturing of data of all the users within a short time) easy and to improve on service delivery. The study consisted of a total sample of 97 respondents from Law Development Centre. Multiple data collection criteria were utilized and these included the questionnaire and focus group discussion. The study found that the benefits that can be enjoyed were: Ease of correction of mistakes, Ease of retrieval of records, Convenient storage of records, Accessibility of records, Accuracy of records, Ease of confirmation of records, avoiding malicious alteration of records, avoiding unauthorized access to records, reducing paper work, Portability/ mobility of records, Backup System for records, Avoiding loss of records and Time management. The study observed a number of challenges in designing and implementation of an online student’s registration portal among which included: poor state of ICT at moderate extent, inadequate or limited financing at great extent, high costs of internet connection at moderate extent, lack of clear guidelines on online student’s registration portal at moderate extent, fraud and computer cyber-crimes hackers at a moderate extent, lack of qualified ICT personnel at a moderate extent. The study concluded that designing and implementing an online student registration portal at LDC can help to speed up the registration process (capturing of data of all the users within a short time) easy and to improve on service delivery. The study provided recommendations among which included; management of LDC should seek to mobilize the appropriate stakeholders to mobilize resources necessary to ensure that the institution has access to the relevant ICT infrastructure with good internet connectivity and speed, LDC should seek more information about designing and implementing online student registration portal and LDC should work towards ensuring that their staff are more of computer literate so as to boost the process if implementation of E-registration.en_US
