dc.description.abstract | The purpose of the study was to assess the records storage and security system at Nansana Municipal Council. The problem for the study was poor records storage and security systems. The objectives of the study were to find out the types of records kept at NMC some which included letters (appointment and appraisal) pay rolls, receipts, minutes, and among others kept in both open and confidential files. To identify this storage system used in the of records and that was the centralized system. To find out the records security system at NMC. To find out the challenges faced in the records storage and security systems some which included limited space, limited storage equipments, limited records staff, over relying on the manual system and among others and also to propose the possible solutions to the challenges faced. The researcher presented different literature from different scholars and authors who wrote about records, records storage and records security. There were two data collection methods used and these were, the interview method and the observation method where 9 respondents were interviewed. Data collected was analysed and presented in such a way that could bring it out in a more meaningful way where the researcher used both qualitative and quantitative research approaches for example the use of tables. The researcher made recommendations for Nansana Municipal Council on how to improve on the records storage and security system which included; expanding the registry to create more space for records, establishing a records centre, adopting offsite storage, equipping the registry with more equipments, recruiting and training more records staff, automation of security and among others all in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness. | en_US |
