dc.description.abstractICT is defined as a technological means of collecting (inputting/gathering), collating (processing/analyzing), and conveying (outputting/transferring) information via technology. ICT facilities are used to provide ICT services using the limited available ICT facilities such as internet browsing, emailing, printing services, photocopying, scanning, CAS, and reference services. The ICT facilities that are available at MRU Library are Computers, network servers, local area network, photocopying machines, LCD projectors, printer and Scanner. Faulty computers and freezing computers, connectivity breakdown, projector connection error and slow network were the major challenges that limited the effective utilization of ICT facilities at MRU Library. The aim of the of the study was to improve the utilization of ICT facilities at MRU library and the specific objectives were; to identify ICT facilities used at MRU Library, to examine the how currently ICTs are being used at MRU Library, to find out the challenges associated with utilizing ICT service at MRU Library, to develop an ICT utilization plan for MRU Library. Qualitative approach was used due to the descriptive nature of the data collected, observed and described what the researcher found in the field. The qualitative method involved getting views, opinions and experiences from the respondents about the type of the ICTs, utilization levels, challenges faced when utilization the available ICTs and other information The findings revealed that computers are used by the MRU librarian to offer excellent and plenty opportunities to the students through the use of text, graphics, images, motion, and audio for the development of their creative talents and high quality learning during computer training; Severs are used to capture, process, store and register the library users; LCD projectors are used in the library computer lab to display computer data on a flat surface when host group computer study training to their library users; printers are used to print user’s information materials at a fee; LAN are used to improve their library services such as emailing and internet browsing in an efficient manner in order to meet the demands of the end users. The study concluded that introduction of an ICT utilization plan would help to provide guiding knowledge to all the library ICT activities.en_US
