The general objective is to examine market access among soya beans farmers in Mayuge district. The study further had four specific objectives and four research questions that were all used to achieve the study purpose. The sub county is located approximately 38 kilometers (24 miles) by road from Jinja town to the east along the northern shores of Lake Victoria protruding between the Kafunda and Lwanika bays. The study employed a cross-sectional research design to examine market access among soya beans farmers in Mayuge district. Primary data was collected using structured questionnaires involving interviews with soya farmers. The sample size was restricted to 80 due to time and financial limitations. This sample of 80 respondents was selected using a probability sampling method called simple random sampling. The primary data was collected through the use of oral interviews and questionnaires that were administered through face to face interaction by the student. After collecting data from the field, it was arranged and put in order, adding tables, figures and other statistical requirements necessitated in trying to answer the objectives. Data was edited, coded for completeness, and processed using computer software called the Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS). The study results revealed that the most commonly used marketing channels by the soya bean farmers in Mayuge district are the non-government organizations/government organizations. Study results also revealed that the most common service provided by NGOs/Gov’t/ institutions is the prompt payment which has the highest average of 0.41. Furthermore, the most common service provided by wholesalers is also the prompt payment which has the highest average of 0.29. Moreover, the most common service provided by retailers is the reduced market costs which has the highest average of 0.25. Additionally, the most common service provided by microprocessor is also the reduced market costs which has the highest average of 0.14. The Chi-square results revealed that sex of the soya beans farmer, marital status, education level, belonging in a farmer’s group and access to training all significantly influence the farmers’ choice of marketing channel used at 95% confidence level since all their p-values are less than 0.05. Logistic regression results show that farm group and training in marketing have a positive significant relationship with market access among soya beans farmers in Mayuge district since their p-values at less than 0.05. The study therefore recommends that an effective credit scheme with low interest should be established so that when soya bean farmers are in need of cash they can easily source loans from there while waiting for payment from the buyers.en_US
