This research was about evaluation of records and information security systems at Ministry of Public Service (MOPS), the records and information security systems are very important for every organization for their effective performance, in order to realize its objectives. MOPS records and information security systems had been ranked highly among the operating MDAs in Uganda providing security of quality information to its clients, however there were difficulties in records and information security and sharing between MOPS and other MDAs caused by unsecured channels and delay in processing and making information quickly available for the users. MOPS faces so many challenges from its records and information security systems; for instance, Technical vulnerability where someone can easily access records and information during the process of repairing the records and information security equipment such as scanners, computers, cameras, unauthorized access to records due to limited storage space in MOPS there were papers records created which have not been digitized especially the active records at the registry, information vandalism among others. The study aimed at evaluating the records and information security systems at MOPS and this was guided by specific objectives that included; to identify the types of records/information managed at MOPS, to find out records and information managed ?; to establish the records management procedures at the Ministry of Public Service (MOPS); to find out the security systems used at the Ministry of Public Service (MOPS); to identify the challenges faced by the security systems currently being used for records at Ministry of Public Service (MOPS); to propose the strategies to improve the records and information security systems at the Ministry of Public Service (MOPS).To achieve the above objectives, both qualitative and quantitative studies were used to gather and analyze the required data on the current records and information security systems. Data collection tools used included; key informant interview guide, questionnaire and observation guides. Data was analyzed in line with study objectives and research questions. The findings of the study revealed that MOPS’ progress and achievements on the current records and information security systems are minimal due to the various security challenges already identified. The research recommended automation of the records and information management procedures and security systems to improve on the systems, to conduct regular system analysis of the records and information security systems, motivation of staff to improve on their participation on records and information security systems and staff training to improve on their skills.en_US
