A project report submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the award of the degree of Bachelor of Agribusiness Management of Makerere Universityen_US
The study was carried out to assess the cost benefit analysis of dairy breeds in Bubaare sub-county, Mbarara district. It was to characterize dairy farmers according to breeds kept, determine factors that influence choice of breeds kept and identify the different costs incurred and benefits achieved. Primary sources of data included use of questionnaires and interviews. Secondary sources of data included written literature for example textbooks, journals, newspapers among others. The target population was 100 dairy farmers from Bubaare sub-county, Mbarara District. The data was analyzed using STATA version 13.0 on windows 10 for both descriptive and frequency statistics. Data presentation was in form of tables and figures to help interpret findings and generate conclusions that aided solutions to the identified challenges. The research established that gender, lack of enough labor, access to extension services, size of land, price per litre and total revenue received by farmers greatly affected dairy production. The study recommended that the government needs to sensitize local people about the economic importance of keeping different dairy breeds, improvise adult learning on issues related to agriculture as well as providing improved extension services, and its importance and revising the total revenue received by local dairy farmers. This will help to increase dairy production.en_US
