dc.description.abstractThe study was focused on designing a Multimedia library for Glory Kindergarten Makerere library only while focusing on the library services provided and the current system strengths and weaknesses at Glory Kindergarten Makerere. The study objectives were; To identify the types of reading material used at the at Glory Kindergarten Makerere library, to identify the reading materials needed for Multimedia library at Glory Kindergarten Makerere library, to establish the library services being provided by the Glory Kindergarten Makerere library and to design a Multimedia library for Glory Kindergarten Makerere library. The aim of the study was to design a Multimedia library for Glory Kindergarten Makerere so as to develop reading culture at early childhood education. To come up with a design of a multimedia library for developing reading culture at early childhood for glory kindergarten, Makerere purposive sampling and convenience sampling methods were used to select respondents in order to get information. The population estimate was 8 including head teacher, teachers and library staff. The sample size was also 8 teachers and the librarian of GK Makerere. document review, interviews and observation were the data collection methods used in data collection. The findings from the study established that there were more female respondents amounting to 6 (75%) of the total sample size and only 2(25%). It was further established that GK, Makerere offers library display, TV sessions and reading sessions to the library users of library. From the researcher it was also revealed that GK Makerere has, storybooks, cards and charts as the different types of information materials used in the library. From the study the researchers made the following recommendations, School administration and library management should endeavour to provide enough funds for multimedia. GK, Makerere library should endeavor to provide an effective Internet connection in the multimedia library section and entire library at large, Steady power supply and sufficient computer systems in order to enable pupils to fully utilize the library should be provided. There should be constant training and re-training of staff in the proper handling of hardware and software packages and managing digital libraries and lastly the researchers suggested that more computers should be made available in the library.en_US
