Records storage and retrieval in Bushenyi District Local Government

This study was about assessment of records storage and retrieval Bushenyi Government registry. The objectives of this study were to identify the records generated and kept , storage equipment used, retrieval system and also identify the challenges, suggest solutions to them and make recommendation under assessment of the records storage and retrieval in Bushenyi local government. The main problem for this study was assessment of records storage and retrieval in Bushenyi Local District Government registry. During this study, these were the key findings revealed that is type of records generated and kept which included administrative, correspondence, personal records and others, records system and retrieval which is comprised equipment used to store records both online and in a hard copy thus retrieved in an electronic and manual format, challenges found with in retrieval and storage of records were also discovered such as loss of records, dirt and dust, obsolescence of technology and others. Under this study solutions and recommendation were suggested such as updating computers, cleaning regularly thus making this study significant. Purposive sampling was used in the study. The study problem investigated was why records deteriorate easily in records storage and retrieval of Records which proved that records management in the registry of Bushenyi was not at maximum effective due to the discovered reasons during the research. These reasons include: dust and dirt, inadequate space for storage, records were kept on the floor and many others as explained in the reports, solutions were suggested and recommendation made in this research report such as improving in the cleaners of the registry and records shouldn't be stored down and others as it is in the report. To gather all this information, the research used different techniques of collecting data for example, use of Questionnaires and others as identified them in the report.
