This project was about the preservation of records at UICT and was guided by the following objectives; to find out the nature of records generated at Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT), to review the existing preservation guidelines of the organisation, to examine the requirements in records preservation of the organisation and to provide solutions to solutions to problems affecting preservation at UICT.
Chapter three presented the methodology that was used which was the purposive sampling technique, the data collection method which was the qualitative method, the data collection instruments which included the interview guide, the observation guide whereby the researchers observed the records management practices that is to say safety of information which was through, storing files in non-acidic boxes and cabinets too among others.
Chapter four showed the presentation, analysis and discussion of the study findings which included the types of record, categories of materials kept by the records centre, how records were preserved and conserved which was through mainly dusting, scanning, binding etc. and finally Chapter five presented a summary which included the preservation and conservation of records, challenges of the records and possible solutions, this chapter also presented a conclusion which consisted of the categories of records kept and the equipment were they were kept, recommendations were also made that is to say increasing staff.
