dc.description.abstract | The research attempted to investigate bark cloth as a fiber material for eco fashion Buganda region.
The research was guided by objectives which include
To investigate if backcloth can used as a fibre material for eco fashion market growth resulting
from raised levels of awareness created by UNESCOs recognition and contributions to the
revitalization of the bark cloth supply chain led to increased rural incomes furthermore it has
brought a sense of pride in the nations heritage and culture.
To examine the production, packaging, consumer use and disposal of bark cloth and its effects on
the environment. The bark cloth is a non-woven traditional fabric made by way of stripping,
beating the inner bark of the mutuba tree. The whole process from production to end life is
ecofriendly as there is no use of pest sides and the fact that the whole process is manual and above
all bark cloth is bio degradable.
To examine the use of backcloth in modern fashion the study reveals the exploration and adoption
of bark cloth as a product design material by Sarah Nakisanze a fashion lecturer at Makerere
University whose endeavors is to utilize bark cloth for innovative production of aesthetics, creative
and visual realities she is also the director of EASY AFRIC DESIGNS . The study analyses data
