This article aims to explore the development history, current situation,
and future prospects of the Confucius Institute at Makerere University. Through
literature review and on-site investigation, it analyzes the achievements of the
Confucius Institute in promoting cultural exchanges between China and foreign
countries, Chinese language teaching, and cultural activities, while also
examining the challenges and problems it faces. The research finds that the
Confucius Institute at Makerere University has played an important role in
promoting Chinese language and culture, facilitating educational cooperation,
and enhancing humanities exchanges, but there are also issues such as
inadequate teaching staff, unreasonable curriculum design, and insufficient
cultural awareness. Based on this, some suggestions are proposed to provide
reference for the further development of the Confucius Institute.
