A study on assessing the factors affecting the profitability of local chicken enterprises was conducted in Bobi sub county in Omoro district with the objective to assess the profitability and the factors affecting the profitability of local chicken enterprises in the study area, a sample of 80 farmers was randomly selected to participate in the study. A cross section research design was employed for the study and the data obtained was analyzed using the study cross margin analysis and a multiple log linear regression to achieve meaningful results. On average a local chicken farmer Ug.x 894,034.4 form the chicken enterprise in the previous year. The multiple log linear regression analysis established that factors, access to extension services, flock size (number of birds) and the distance to nearest market had a significant on the profitability of the local chicken enterprises. The study revealed that there are lies a big potential for development of local chicken by transforming the activity from the extensive free-range system to modern intensive market central farming. The farmers should be transformed through training and by extension officers.
