ItemThe application of Integrated Library Systems in library services(Makerere University, 2022-05-07) Okuny, Moses OnesiphorusIntegrated Library Systems(ILS) has been adopted by most libraries to aid in the proper running of their services, Makerere university main library inclusive. The aim of this study is to establish the effectiveness of virtua system in running the daily activities of the library since its adoption in the late 1900s. Interviews were used where the librarians were asked on how effective the system has been since its implementation by the library, Observations and questionnaires were used as well. The results show that the use of virtua system has made the work of librarians easy especially when it comes to cataloguing, circulation of library services and others. It is however recommended that more equipment and gadgets like computers with strong network connections be purchased to help in full implementation of the system.

ItemManagement of Information Institutions and Resources(Makerere University, 2022-07-17) Okuny, MosesNational records and archives center was established in 2015. The aim of the study is to establish how different information centers manage their resources. Questionaires and observations were used to come up with the results. The outcome of the study was that most of the information resources still have a lot of challenges when it come to resource management especially of electronic resources. As a result, further studies is recommended in order to get to the root cause of this poor management and how to improve resource management in information institutions.
