The contribution of project management software on the successful completion of construction projects in Kampala.
Abstract
In order for construction organizations to compete favorably in this constant changing
environment, then they must become more adaptive, fast, and collaborative, and utilize
information technology. The construction industry especially that of transitioning economies still
practices project management mainly through financial procedures and material planning. As such
the Project Management Software (PMS) originating from developed economies, in the present
form, is of little use in transitional economies in the management of projects. These projects need
to be managed, planned, organized, staffed, monitored, controlled and evaluated to ascertain their
project status. Project management software such as Primavera, Microsoft Project and Excel is a
full solution to manage these projects This particular paper adds to project management
knowledge of transitioning economies by looking at the contribution of these PMS on the
successful completion of construction Projects in Kampala, Uganda.
