dc.description.abstract | Many National and International Universities changed the system of studies
after the broke up of Covid-19 that sparked off and registered in the world.
This called for closure of all government sectors and institution and all students
went back to their houses to be with parents. The stake holders came in with a
lot of conversations on how they would keep the education sector to keep
running. This mostly started from the developed countries and because they has
the capacity and tools to carry out online classes, more especially in the United
Kingdom and a number of challenges were addressed and discussed and later
proceedings were taken and hence online classes were introduced and adopted.
However the following are the problems that were discoved which mostly
affect both the students and teachers while studying online.Socio Economic
Disparities,Technical Difficulties,Passiveness Among Students, Lack of
Control and Discipline, Isolation, Lack of Motivation, Data Security,
However, Makerere University Senate introduced ODEL "open distance elearning" to all students because it had initially been catering for a specific
group of people, all students embraced it and opened user accounts to the
university systems which had been developed specifically for online studying
such Makerere University E-learning Environment (MUELE). This was a very
a new system to both students and lecturers to interact with. It has a lot of
challenges which do affect both the students and lectures because the problems
are general and to be solved it needs both the government, ministry of

education, and National council for higher education to sit down and address
them and try to solve them because they are negatively affecting the progress
of education in Uganda because tools required are not easily available for use
and more especially very expensive to purchase.
