Analysis of the relationship between child labor and the number of school dropout in Uganda

Abstract

This study aimed at finding the relationship between child labor and the number of school dropouts in Uganda, the study had objectives of finding out the relationship between child labor and the number of school dropouts in Uganda, other objectives were also considered for example, the relationship between social, demographic and economic factors as causes of dropping out of school. Secondary data was used from ministry of education, Uganda Bureau of Statistics, among other sources. It was revealed that there was a positive relationship between child labor and dropping out of school in Uganda. This is because many students get involved in working at farms, other rear cattle and some work at industries. Other factors also contributed to the dropping out of school which included the income status, educational background of the parents. While other factors like age, gender among others had no relationship with the number of school dropout in Uganda
