Transforming Buganda bark cloth as a product design material in modern offices, Uganda.
Abstract
The research attempt to investigate bark cloth as a product design material in the modern artistic offices ,Uganda from other key informants
The research guided by the following objectives;
Examining the historical uses of bark cloth and find out the adoption of it as a product design material also the production of bark cloth, packaging and consumer uses of bark cloth in region as a non woven traditional fabric.
The study reveals the transformation of Buganda bark cloth as a product design material following its trend and attitude of people towards the Buganda bark cloth in modern Uganda offices ,resulting from the raised level of awareness created by UNESCO'S recognitions and contribution to the revitalization of bark cloth supply chain led to increased rural income furthermore it has brought a sense of pride in the nations heritage and culture.
The study also reveals the exploration design and adoption of bark cloth as a product design material by Sarah Nakisanze a fashion lecturer at Makerere University and a director of EASY AFRIC DESIGN whose endeavors is to utilize bark cloth for innovative production of aesthetics ,creative and visual realities.
