An assessment on the impact of art and craft practice on the social and economic development of women in Mukono District, Mukono Town Council
Abstract
This research covers assessments made on art and craft practice on the social economic development of women ion Mukono district.
These materials such as the ridges, fibre, wood, hides and skins palm leaves are common among the women in production process.
The objectives of this research are simply to:
Identify the impact of these materials in art and craft on the social economic development. Explore the relationship between material and the social economic development among the people (Women).
Basically, from the above objectives, there are certain limitations such as finance, time, illiteracy, rigidity of the respondents these were basically overcome with patience and using other verified ways of reaching different people in specifies fixed period of time. Related literature as regards the theories, the instruments used for data collection includes the questionnaires, tele-interview, face – face interview but on a small scale unlike the questionnaire which was a dorminant in data collection.
For the findings of the study are presented in the chapter 5 which includes different analysed information n and synthesized at the same time. These were got from the respondents and the researcher own analysis.
The research was concluded with the view that looks at women as doing the arts and crafts with rigid ideas and do not want to adopt to the changing daily life in the places of work. So with this the researcher recommended that there should be arrangements of mini exhibitions, sensitization of the people about the materials (local) and other techniques of marketing their products.
