Abstract
The study examined the relevance of photography on gender equality in Makerere University, the study was guided by the following objectives; 1. To determine the influence of photography on students. 2. How can Sculpture influence gender equality. 3. How can women be added to projects of art at BIFA. The study used descriptive survey design with both qualitative and quantitative approach. Data was collected from photography students and gender students of Makerere University. It was analyzed using frequency counts and percentage and content analysis for data obtained from unstructured interviews. The study findings revealed that gender equality can be promoted using photography practice, and can help to finesse everything from sculpture, painting, fabrication and ceramics The study recommended that photography lectures should teach students how to use cameras take pictures that advocate for gender equality in order to make the number of boys equal to girls on how to produce quality art pieces and receive the same treatment from the society. In addition to above, it recommends that the students should influence gender equality in the class of photography through involving in the other disciplines of art, to see how the both genders come up with work. The study further concluded that photography influences the promotion of gender equality; in Makerere University to understand gender equity and for the students to understand and interpret content and subject matter in photography
