    Abstract
The dissertation explores the possibility of a combination of both applied and structural textile designs on an upholstery fabric. Fabric designers at Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Arts in Makerere University over rely on either applied or structural fabric decoration techniques to design a fabric hence creating a limit on designs of the final output. The study explored the possibilities of combination of both applied and structural designs.
