    Abstract
This study examined the effects of social media on Ekyitaguriro dance from Western Uganda. It was driven by the need to find out what social has impacted on the performance of Ekyitaguriro dance from the perspective of the traditional cultural dancers or the troupes. The researcher carried out a qualitative study, with the fieldwork conducted in Kampala the capital of Uganda which is located in the central region of Buganda Kingdom. This involved tools such as; interviews, documentary analysis and literature review. Furthermore, the researcher gathered information concerning the current study from different websites through various search engines. The researcher also collected relevant information from the audio-visual data to capture important moments for the study. The researcher concluded that with the consideration of the existing changes in the advancement of social media platforms, there is a great threat in the near future that the concerned authorities have not done much on protecting the social media users to reduce on copy and pasting of people's content. And therefore copy right should be legalized in Uganda to protect people's content and also we should embrace our cultures.
