    Abstract
The study investigated the effectiveness of bike sharing programs in promoting active transportation within the university community. It was broken down into three objectives; analyzing the factors influencing the adoption and usage of bike-sharing programs, investigating the distribution of bike sharing stations within the University community and examining the level of satisfaction with the bike sharing program's infrastructure, maintenance and customer service. The researcher used descriptive, qualitative and cross sectional research design. The study used both qualitative and quantitative methods, which were administered through questionnaires and interviews. The sample size used comprised of 40 respondents which included students, staff and faculty, community administrators and community members. Random, Selective and random sampling methods were used. Secondary data was obtained from journals, library, reports, reviews and internet. Data analysis was carried out using Excel to generate frequency distribution tables and pie charts. The field findings revealed that most of the students, staff and faculty and community members are aware about the bike sharing program within the university. This has increased usage and adoption of the program however, some users find it difficult to access bikes at some hours for example after 5pm and some lack stations within their residence areas. The research concludes that there is need for increased marketing as well as awareness about the bike sharing program within the university. This study suggests expanding the network of bike stations across campus in order to enhance accessibility, priotizing user safety and empowerment, simplifying user experience, optimizing service hours, enhancing security and peace of mind as well as adapting to terrain challenges. This is aimed at increasing awareness, adoption and usage
