Assessment of students' awareness about investment in capital market in Uganda: a case study of Makerere University at School of Statistics and Planning
Abstract
The aim of this study is to assess the students awareness about investment in capital market in Uganda with a case study of school of statistics and planning at Makerere University, so in order to achieve this aim I sub categorized the aim in to minor objectives and these includes to assess the level of awareness of selected investment products, considering, treasury bills, corporate stock or shares and negotiable certificate of deposit, to ascertain how the educational background of the students affect awareness students awareness about capital markets investment products,to find the source of information about investment products among students and to find out how students perceive investment products in capital market. The study obtained information from one hundred two respondents from the one hundred twenty respondents who were targeted mainly through a questionnaire. From the study it showed that most of the respondents who were ofcourse students were not familiar with the capital market investment products. Moreover it also showed that the education background of respondents affect their level of awareness about capital market investment and the most source of information about investment in capital market was others and this included schools and internet.
