    Abstract
    This study examines the impact of evening markets on traffic flow and its implication to planning and design. It examines the operation of evening markets along Namirembe road, assess the effects of these evening markets on traffic flow along Namirembe road, evaluate the implication of Namirembe road evening market to planning and design and it suggests measures for controlling and regulating the Namirembe road evening markets so as to reduce the impact on traffic flow. The study does this through literature review, administering questionnaires, it also involved mapping, interviewing, participatory observation, photography, recording and measurement. These helped to gather information, different perceptions, get knowledge and experience while in the field. It revealed the presentation of research findings such as how the street vendors acquired the space, the types of items sold. It also shows the effects of Namirembe road evening markets, the implication to planning and design and the ways how to improve traffic flow along Namirembe road. The study therefore recommends that KCCA should construct affordable markets for vendors, politics should be removed from vending activities among others.
