    Abstract
This paper presents spousal violence and its causes in Uganda. It investigates how age, sex, place of residence and levels of education among couples contribute to spousal violence. Investigations show that spousal violence is common among females, couples between 20 and 35 years. It also reveals that spousal violence is common among rural and poor families especially to those who witness it on their parents. there is need to promote gender equity and equality among couples and counselling centers to help couples report spousal violence cases. The findings of the study support the need to carry more research on causes of spousal violence among couples.
