    Abstract
    This research analyzed local fabric material as being versatile and creative in the contemporary use in fashion design today. It is a research carried out to understand how fashion designers have used the fabric in their designs specifically the trendy styles by Sanaa Gateja. it was guided by the following objectives: • TO UNDERSTAND THE HISTORY OF BARK CLOTH AND FASHION DESIGN IN UGANDA. • TO INVESTIGATE IN WHICH WAYS FASHION DESIGNERS HAVE USED BARK CLOTH IN THEIR FASHION. • TO FIND OUT HOW SANAA GATEJA HAS CHANGED FASHION THROUGH USE OF BARK CLOTH. The researcher has used an explorative design for data management since it was quantitative in nature. Sanaa Gateja was visited to carry out effective research and study on his works.
