The importance of photography as a course unit at Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Arts.
Abstract
The study was set to show the importance of photography as a course unit at Margaret Trowell School of industrial and Fine Arts. It was guided by the objectives in chapter one which include; To identify the reasons why most students do not opt for photography as a course unit? To determine the influence of photography on art students. To establish the advantages of taking on photography as a course unit. To identify the different photography professions.
The report has chapter two which is composed of the literature review and this study mostly contains the understanding or different views of photography by different authors, art critics, scholars, famous artists and famous professional photographers.
The research was qualitative in nature where focused group discussions, interviews and archival research was used to gather the data needed for the research and then processed into this report. The research was carried out in Makerere University at Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Arts.
Inconclusion, the research findings will be able to provide information, acknowledgement and the importance of photography as a course unit to the art students of Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Arts. The findings of this research are to benefit the students of MTSIFA by enriching their curricular by exploring the various possibilities of photography as a course unit.
