dc.description.abstract This document is as a result of a research study carried out at the Ministry of Lands Housing and Urban Development (MLHUD) Mukono District Zonal Office conducted in the period of August, 2018 to April, 2019. The research study aimed at assessing the impact of decentralization of land administration and management in Uganda. This was focused on three objectives; to determine the difference between the land administration and management mechanism before and after decentralization, to identify the problems encountered in the decentralization process and determine possible ways how they can be solved and to identify the level of effectiveness and efficiency of decentralization of land administration and management. For the methodology, the study being analytical and descriptive in nature, it consisted of both qualitative and quantitative data which was obtained using primary and secondary sources. Primary data was obtained using interviews that is both closed and open ended questionnaires. A target population of 80 members was involved in the study, and the selection was based on purposive sampling method. Conclusions were also drawn from the study revealing that decentralization of land administration and management in the country has indeed had a great positive impact on service delivery. However, there is still room for improvement especially for the offices providing these services. Some of the recommendations include; closer supervision of the District Zonal Offices, human and financial capacity be improved, improved spacing and working environment as well as staff motivation through recreational team building en_US
